If you are interested in adopting one of the available greyhounds shown here, please contact one of our representatives listed above or on our Contact Us page to help you with the adoption process. For a general adoption guide, please check our Adoption Guide and for adoption requirements and general information about greyhounds, please check our FAQs

No description is provided for greyhounds who have just recently arrived at our kennel. In all other cases, where a description is given regarding behavior, and the results of cat, small dog and kid testing, the information provided is merely for guidance. Each dog may adapt differently in a different home environment, with other animals or children whose behavior is different. Please work closely with our adoption representative to help you pick the right dog for your home.

Cat Friendly Dogs - There are many people with cats looking to adopt greyhounds. If you do not have cats, we ask that you only consider adopting a dog that is not cat friendly. These dogs need homes just as much as the cat friendly dogs and we ask your help in reserving the cat friendly dogs for those homes that truly need them.

Apartments, Condominiums, TownHomes - GPI reserves the right not to place a greyhound under 3 years of age in a condominium, townhome or apartment, due to their expected energy levels and activity needs.

GPI also reserves the right not to place greyhounds deemed as high energy in a condominium, townhome or apartment.

EXCEPTIONS to these policies may be considered for a particular dog, but they must be pre-approved by the President (or his/her board of director’s designee) AND the applicable Regional VP.

We do not recommend picking a dog from its cute picture or color. Please choose dogs within your locality or within your driving distance. Being a volunteer based group, it is difficult for the organization to organize special transport of a dog from one end of our service area to another end. We make an exception for our Special Hounds.

Tag No: 5666
Registered Name: None
Date of Birth: Approx. April 15, 2014
Color: Black
Cat Friendly: Yes, with caution
Dog Friendly: See comments
Kid Friendly: Unknown
Location: Woodinville, WA  (Kennel)
Larger photo:  Yes, click the link in Brutus' comment area
Comments: Brutus is a puppy. He is a greyhound mix and brother to Ellie. He is a happy, friendly little guy and will just make you smile. He loves all kinds of toys and really wants to please. Being a puppy he has lots of energy and will need a home that can guide him in the ways of the world. Brutus was the biggest of the litter and will need some guidance on how to share. Brutus is still too young to be with adult dogs as they can easily injure a puppy without meaning to. Brutus did well in cat testing, but being a puppy he wants to play and chase, so all interactions with cats must be carefully monitored.

Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, ok with small dogs

Comments: Dino is very affectionate and gentle. He came to us from Ireland. He was in a foster home for a couple of weeks in Ireland and did very well – fully house-trained, very affectionate, good recall, very gentle with other dogs. He does guard his food a little bit (but is not aggressive), so he might not be a good choice for young children. Silly boy is afraid of the shiny floors, but he is a wonderful boy. Dino will need a home without cats. He did well in small dog testing and has spent time around Jack Russell Terriers.

Comments: Dutch is a tall, handsome boy.  He is a lurcher (greyhound mix). He is outgoing, friendly and happy about life. You can’t help but smile when you are around this boy and everyone who meets him falls in love! Dutch is Mr. Personality. He will need a home with a 6 foot fence and without small dogs or cats. We do not recommend him with young children. Dutch loves to play and is a great companion. Dutch does well on our kennel dog walks. Won’t you give this fun boy his forever home.

Color: Fawn
Cat Friendly: Yes
Dog Friendly: Ok with large and small
Kid Friendly: No

Larger photo:  Yes, click the link in Hansy's comment area
Comments: Hansy is a sweet, gentle, loving soul. He loves to lay by the fire or go for short walks. He loves soccer balls and stuffed toys. Hansy needs a home without children as he is space and food protective. He has lived in a home as an only dog and is now in a foster home with other greyhounds and he does fine – he just needs his own space for lying down. He is very affectionate and loves men. Hansy has some old track injuries, which don’t hold him back, but he would do best in a home without a lot of stairs and with a yard. Just a love bug!!

Kegan
Tag No: 5384
Registered Name: Atascocita Kegan
Date of Birth: May 14, 2007
Color: Fawn
Cat Friendly: No
Dog Friendly: OK with large dogs, not OK with small dogs
Kid Friendly: 10+ years old
Location: Foster home
Larger photos:  Yes, click the links in Kegan's comment area plus see his Dog of the Month feature.
Comments: Kegan is a big, strong boy. He is happy, perky and in love with life! Kegan will need a home without cats and one that can handle such a strong boy. Kegan will need a home with a strong pack leader. He responds well to positive training methods. He can be a jumper, but is learning that this is not acceptable. Some of our volunteers are working on training with him and he is learning fast. Kegan is very strong and tall. He is a fun, fun dog and with some more obedience training and rules enforced he will be a wonderful companion. Kennel Update: Kegan loves to please you and responds well to praise and guidance. His manners are greatly improving and he is a wonderful boy! He loves to play and is very affectionate.  Please check out Kegan's video for a fun time this boy had recently with all the toys in the kennel toy box!  Foster Home Update Kegan is very good in the house and just about has the dog door down.  His leash manners are improving greatly and most of the time he walks very well on leash.  He loves to play with the toys!  Kegan does well with all the other dogs in his foster home, both greyhound and non-greyhound (all large).  Kegan responds well to praise and once he understands what you expect of him, he is very obedient.  Kegan really needs a home with a yard and a more active home.  Foster Home Update:  Kegan is extremely good around the house.  He knows how to use the dog door, loves car rides, and absolutely loves toys.  He absolutely cannot go into a home with small dogs or cats.  We are working on his leash manners in public and he is improving.  He loves his walks and loves running with the other dogs.  His one downfall is his excitement when you come home or when he gets excited about something new – we are working on teaching him that all four paws need to stay on the ground.  Kegan is a smart boy and loves to be kept busy and learns quickly.  This is not a dog for an apartment/condo/townhome.  See Kegan's feature photo album on Facebook

Comments: Platinum is one handsome boy. He came to us from S. Korea. He is a happy, playful, fun, full of life kind of guy. He is very affectionate with those he knows well. Platinum loves most people, but there are a few that he seems to take exception with. Platinum is eager to learn and wants to please, so a home that is willing to do some obedience training with him would be perfect. Platinum will need a home without cats, small dogs or children. He is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome. He has not been neutered as yet because he is undergoing heartworm treatments. Once his treatments are completed he will be neutered and available for adoption.  MEDICAL HOLD

Location: Woodinville, WA (Kennel)
Larger photos:  Yes, click the links in Ridge's comment area
Comments: Ridge is a handsome boy. He is shy and unsure of himself and new situations so will do best in a home with another easy going dog that can show him the ropes and also with someone who can help guide him in the ways of the world. We have been unable to get a good read on him with our cat testing because of his shyness. Ridge would do best in a quieter home and with someone who can work on building his confidence. We do not recommend him with young children as they move to fast for him. Ridge would most probably do best in a home with a yard rather than a busy apartment type home. Ridge is currently on medical hold due to some mouth warts we are working on healing.  MEDICAL HOLD

Comments: Scupper (or Scoop) is a friendly, happy boy. This boy will need a home with a fence taller than 4 feet. Scoop will need a home without cats. He is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome. He has a broken leg that is currently in the process of healing. Scoop will not be available for adoption until his leg is healed. You can help with his medical expenses by sponsoring this handsome boy.
Kennel UpdateScupper had surgery on his leg on May 8th.  The surgeon was very pleased with how it went.  Scoop is now on the mend and will have several weeks of healing time and cast changes.  He is being very good about the process.  Such a lovely boy. Kennel Update: His cast came off at the beginning of July and he is making great strides in building up strength in his leg. Scupper is definitely about all that is good in life – he is one happy boy!! He is a big, strong boy and still has that goofy outlook on life. He will be graduating to off-leash exercise at the end of August and should be available for adoption shortly thereafter.  Kennel Update:  Scupper had to undergo another surgery to remove the hardware in his leg as it was causing some issues.  He is back on the road to recovery.  He’s such a good boy!!  Kennel Update:  Scupper finally has all the hardware removed from his leg and is in the final stages of his recovery and building up strength in his leg.  He is just a love!  Kennel Update:  Scupper’s leg is recovering well and he is now available for adoption.  He moves around well on his leg and is a happy, playful, bouncy guy.  He is having some acupuncture/chiropractic treatments and we would love his forever home to continue these for a while.  He will need a home who can manage a big, tall, strong boy.  He is so excited to finally be able to move and jump around, that he forgets himself at times.  Now that he is able to get some exercise and enjoy life, we think he will settle down well in a home with a little guidance and exercise.  Scupper will need a home without small dogs and we do not recommend him with young children.  Kennel Update:  Scupper’s leg has still not healed fully, but we are trying a new type of brace to help support his leg while he continues to heal.  Kennel Update:  Sadly we had to amputate Scupper’s leg as it just would not heal.  He is doing marvelously and is amazing on three legs.   He will be running and playing in no time.  This boy is such a love and a real trooper.   MEDICAL HOLD
