If you are interested in adopting one of the available greyhounds shown here, please contact one of our representatives listed above or on our Contact Us page to help you with the adoption process. For a general adoption guide, please check our Adoption Guide and for adoption requirements and general information about greyhounds, please check our FAQs

No description is provided for greyhounds who have just recently arrived at our kennel. In all other cases, where a description is given regarding behavior, and the results of cat, small dog and kid testing, the information provided is merely for guidance. Each dog may adapt differently in a different home environment, with other animals or children whose behavior is different. Please work closely with our adoption representative to help you pick the right dog for your home.

Cat Friendly Dogs - There are many people with cats looking to adopt greyhounds. If you do not have cats, we ask that you only consider adopting a dog that is not cat friendly. These dogs need homes just as much as the cat friendly dogs and we ask your help in reserving the cat friendly dogs for those homes that truly need them.

Apartments, Condominiums, TownHomes - GPI reserves the right not to place a greyhound under 3 years of age in a condominium, townhome or apartment, due to their expected energy levels and activity needs.

GPI also reserves the right not to place greyhounds deemed as high energy in a condominium, townhome or apartment.

EXCEPTIONS to these policies may be considered for a particular dog, but they must be pre-approved by the President (or his/her board of director’s designee) AND the applicable Regional VP.

We do not recommend picking a dog from its cute picture or color. Please choose dogs within your locality or within your driving distance. Being a volunteer based group, it is difficult for the organization to organize special transport of a dog from one end of our service area to another end. We make an exception for our Special Hounds.

He is on the higher energy side, so may not do well in an apartment type home.  Kennel Update Addis has really calmed down in recent months.  He does wonderfully on walks with volunteers on the local trails.  Addis is friendly, loving and a joy to be around.  He is a love and will make a wonderful companion.

Comments: Brock is friendly, outgoing and playful.  He loves to play with the toys.  He is a confident, strong boy, and is doing well in training with some of our volunteers.  He so wants to please and will make you smile.  He loves affection and is a love.  Brock needs a fairly active, dog savvy home.  We do not recommend him with children as we think he will unintentionally hurt them by accidentally knocking them over.  Brock does not always get along with other male dogs, but he has done fine at turnout with some males and with females who can handle his playfulness.  Brock is a great boy!!  He does well on his walks with our volunteers on the local trails.  Although Brock is 5 years old he is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome.  Won’t you give this wonderful boy his forever home.
Brock was a past Dog of the Month.

Duke

Registered Name: Victory Lap
Age: 7.5
Color: White/Red Brindle
Cat Friendly: Yes
Dog Friendly: Ok with large and small
Kid Friendly: See Comments
Location: Foster Home
Larger photo:  Yes, click the link in Duke's comment area
Comments: Duke was in a home with Oliver and was returned to us through no fault of his own. He is a loving, gentle soul who wants to be with his people all the time and will follow you around the house. Duke has mastered many pet life skills such as using the doggie door, riding in the car, climbing stairs, walking on smooth floors, and walking on leash. Duke was highly sensitive to tartar and plaque on his teeth, which caused an oral inflammation. Now that all of his teeth have been removed, there’s no longer any inflammation or bad breath. His medical condition is no longer a problem. You don’t even need to brush his teeth! He eats regular kibbles with some added warm water and enjoys treats broken into tiny pieces. Duke interacted well with visiting children (10 and 14 years old) and he has lived with cats. An ideal home for Duke would be a single home with another greyhound. He is a big goofball. You ought to see and hear him try to roo!

Comments: Dutch is a tall, handsome boy who recently arrived from Ohio. He is a lurcher (greyhound mix). Dutch is outgoing, friendly and happy about life. You can’t help but fall in love with this boy! Dutch will need a home with a 6 foot fence and without small dogs. Kid Friendly: Unknown
Location: Woodinville, WA (Kennel)

Comments: Gandhi is a happy, playful, fun, full of life kind of boy. He will make you smile. Gandhi came to us from S. Korea and is approximately 1 year old. He is very much still the puppy. We think he may not be all greyhound and might have something else mixed in there. He is an active boy and has far more stamina than your average greyhound. He loves to play and run. Gandhi is not suitable for a home with cats or an apartment type home. Gandhi loves to play and it can be too much for some other dogs, so he will need a home with other dogs that like to play and can tolerate a young, energetic dog. He knows several commands and will need a home that can continue to grow his obedience skills.  Gandhi is very questionable with small dogs and may do best in a home without small dogs.  Since he needs space to play, Gandhi needs a home with a yard. An expert sitter, Gandhi knows several commands and needs an owner who will continue to grow his obedience skills.  Kennel update:  Gandhi and Pepper are turned out together and are a great pair.  They love to play together.  Check out this photo album of Gandhi pictures!

Cat Friendly: No
Dog Friendly: OK with large dogs, not OK with small dogs
Kid Friendly: 10+ years old
Location: Foster home
Larger photos:  Yes, click the links in Kegan's comment area plus see his Dog of the Month feature.
Comments: Kegan is a big, strong boy. He is happy, perky and in love with life! Kegan will need a home without cats and one that can handle such a strong boy. Kegan will need a home with a strong pack leader. He responds well to positive training methods. He can be a jumper, but is learning that this is not acceptable. Some of our volunteers are working on training with him and he is learning fast. Kegan is very strong and tall. He is a fun, fun dog and with some more obedience training and rules enforced he will be a wonderful companion. Kennel Update: Kegan loves to please you and responds well to praise and guidance. His manners are greatly improving and he is a wonderful boy! He loves to play and is very affectionate.  Please check out Kegan's video for a fun time this boy had recently with all the toys in the kennel toy box!  Foster Home Update Kegan is very good in the house and just about has the dog door down.  His leash manners are improving greatly and most of the time he walks very well on leash.  He loves to play with the toys!  Kegan does well with all the other dogs in his foster home, both greyhound and non-greyhound (all large).  Kegan responds well to praise and once he understands what you expect of him, he is very obedient.  Kegan really needs a home with a yard and a more active home.  Foster Home Update:  Kegan is extremely good around the house.  He knows how to use the dog door, loves car rides, and absolutely loves toys.  He absolutely cannot go into a home with small dogs or cats.  We are working on his leash manners in public and he is improving.  He loves his walks and loves running with the other dogs.  His one downfall is his excitement when you come home or when he gets excited about something new – we are working on teaching him that all four paws need to stay on the ground.  Kegan is a smart boy and loves to be kept busy and learns quickly.  This is not a dog for an apartment/condo/townhome.  See Kegan's feature photo album on Facebook

Comments: Scupper (or Scoop) is a friendly, happy boy. This boy will need a home with a fence taller than 4 feet. Scoop will need a home without cats. He is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome. He has a broken leg that is currently in the process of healing. Scoop will not be available for adoption until his leg is healed. You can help with his medical expenses by sponsoring this handsome boy.
Kennel Update:  Scupper had surgery on his leg on May 8th.  The surgeon was very pleased with how it went.  Scoop is now on the mend and will have several weeks of healing time and cast changes.  He is being very good about the process.  Such a lovely boy. Kennel Update: His cast came off at the beginning of July and he is making great strides in building up strength in his leg. Scupper is definitely about all that is good in life – he is one happy boy!! He is a big, strong boy and still has that goofy outlook on life. He will be graduating to off-leash exercise at the end of August and should be available for adoption shortly thereafter.  Kennel Update:  Scupper had to undergo another surgery to remove the hardware in his leg as it was causing some issues.  He is back on the road to recovery.  He’s such a good boy!!  Kennel Update:  Scupper finally has all the hardware removed from his leg and is in the final stages of his recovery and building up strength in his leg.  He is just a love!  Kennel Update:  Scupper’s leg is recovering well and he is now available for adoption.  He moves around well on his leg and is a happy, playful, bouncy guy.  He is having some acupuncture/chiropractic treatments and we would love his forever home to continue these for a while.  He will need a home who can manage a big, tall, strong boy.  He is so excited to finally be able to move and jump around, that he forgets himself at times.  Now that he is able to get some exercise and enjoy life, we think he will settle down well in a home with a little guidance and exercise.  Scupper will need a home without small dogs and we do not recommend him with young children.

Comments: Teddy is a handsome boy who recently arrived from Ohio. He is a lurcher (greyhound mix). Teddy is a little on the shy side at first, but he is coming around and quickly figuring out that this affection thing is pretty nice! He is shorter and stockier than the NGA greyhounds we are used to, but loving and a sweetheart. We are still learning about Teddy and will post updates soon. Teddy did well in our small dog testing with a Jack Russell Terrier, but has not lived with small dogs.  Teddy did fairly well in our cat testing – he showed some interested at first, but was not focused after a while so we think he could be trainable.  Teddy is a little unsure of himself and does not like to be sudden movements, so we think he would do best in a calm home without young children. Won’t you help us care for him by sponsoring Teddy.

Travis is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome as he will occasionally bark if he hears/sees anything. Travis needs a home without cats. Travis is a wonderful boy, very smart and eager to please. He will need a dog savvy home, but is not a difficult dog.  Travis may do best in a home without small dogs.  Kennel update: Travis is a handsome, wonderful, affectionate, playful boy who loves people. Our volunteers love his spirit and zest for life!  He loves to play with soccer balls and maneuvers them around like a Seattle Sounder.  He is physically strong, but he wants to please you. We have several volunteers working with him on some obedience training. Travis would do best with a dog-savvy owner who is willing to continue with his obedience training and has the time to give him the exercise he needs. Travis was our September Dog of the Month!!
