If you are interested in adopting one of the available greyhounds shown here, please contact one of our representatives listed above or on our Contact Us page to help you with the adoption process. For a general adoption guide, please check our Adoption Guide and for adoption requirements and general information about greyhounds, please check our FAQs

No description is provided for greyhounds who have just recently arrived at our kennel. In all other cases, where a description is given regarding behavior, and the results of cat, small dog and kid testing, the information provided is merely for guidance. Each dog may adapt differently in a different home environment, with other animals or children whose behavior is different. Please work closely with our adoption representative to help you pick the right dog for your home.

Cat Friendly Dogs - There are many people with cats looking to adopt greyhounds. If you do not have cats, we ask that you only consider adopting a dog that is not cat friendly. These dogs need homes just as much as the cat friendly dogs and we ask your help in reserving the cat friendly dogs for those homes that truly need them.

Apartments, Condominiums, TownHomes - GPI reserves the right not to place a greyhound under 3 years of age in a condominium, townhome or apartment, due to their expected energy levels and activity needs.

GPI also reserves the right not to place greyhounds deemed as high energy in a condominium, townhome or apartment.

EXCEPTIONS to these policies may be considered for a particular dog, but they must be pre-approved by the President (or his/her board of director’s designee) AND the applicable Regional VP.

We do not recommend picking a dog from its cute picture or color. Please choose dogs within your locality or within your driving distance. Being a volunteer based group, it is difficult for the organization to organize special transport of a dog from one end of our service area to another end. We make an exception for our Special Hounds.

Comments: Jo Jo is a mellow, playful boy. He loves to spend time with you and will need a home with a canine companion. He loves kongs and balls. He is a love and very affectionate. Jo Jo will need a home without cats or young children.  Foster home update: (In Jo Jo's words)  I like this foster thing... There are beds everywhere, a doggie door leading out to a big yard and two cute older ladies (Lady and Zora) to keep me company when the human is gone. There are stuffies and balls and toys all over the place. A handsome hound like me could get used to this. The ride here was nice but I'll need some practice getting in the car. Tomorrow, a walking adventure in the park. To be continued....

away. Johnnie is a joyful, happy go lucky boy. He is friendly and sweet.
He walks well on leash and rides well in a car. He knows how to use a dog
door and has lived in a home with a fenced yard. He will need a home
without cats. Johnnie has not spent much time around children or other
breed dogs other than out on walks, so we don't know how he would do with
them. Johnnie needs a home with a canine companion. Won't you give this wonderful boy his forever home.

Registered Name: Electric Explore
Breed: Greyhound
Date of Birth: January 22, 2005
Color: Black
Cat Friendly: Yes
Dog Friendly: Ok with large and small
Kid Friendly: Yes
Location: Foster Home
Larger photo:  Yes, click the link in Mac's comment area
Comments: Mac is an absolute sweetheart. He is sweet, gentle, and very affectionate and loving. He is a happy soul and loves to hang with you. Mac has lived in a home, but was returned because he was not happy. He has lived with a cat and young children. Mac has always lived in a home with a yard, so we would really like him to go into a home with a yard. He is doing well in his foster home. Mac is a delightful, easygoing boy. He loves belly rubs, playbowing and being with you.  Foster home update: Mac is such a sweet guy. He just wants love, low maintenance love - he'll just put his head in your lap while you lounge in your favorite chair. He is also very smart. He has excellent counter surfing skills, especially if he knows you're not paying attention. Mac does have a talent for yard excavation, but if you provide him a place to dig, he'll leave the yard alone.

Color: Red
Cat Friendly: No
Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, no small dogs

Comments: Shabazz is an absolute sweetheart. He is a love, easy going and friendly. He came to us with a badly broken leg. He had surgery on his leg and it is healing well. Shabazz will need a home without cats. He is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome. Kennel update: Shabazz’s leg is healing well and he is putting more and more weight on it. He has even gone for some short walks and done well. Shabazz may not be the best choice with young children as he has a tendence to grab food. We are working with him on this and he is learning.  Shabazz will need a home without small dogs.  Shabazz is our August Dog of the Month!!
