If you are interested in adopting one of the available greyhounds shown here, please contact one of our representatives listed above or on our Contact Us page to help you with the adoption process. For a general adoption guide, please check our Adoption Guide and for adoption requirements and general information about greyhounds, please check our FAQs

No description is provided for greyhounds who have just recently arrived at our kennel. In all other cases, where a description is given regarding behavior, and the results of cat, small dog and kid testing, the information provided is merely for guidance. Each dog may adapt differently in a different home environment, with other animals or children whose behavior is different. Please work closely with our adoption representative to help you pick the right dog for your home.

Cat Friendly Dogs - There are many people with cats looking to adopt greyhounds. If you do not have cats, we ask that you only consider adopting a dog that is not cat friendly. These dogs need homes just as much as the cat friendly dogs and we ask your help in reserving the cat friendly dogs for those homes that truly need them.

Apartments, Condominiums, TownHomes - GPI reserves the right not to place a greyhound under 3 years of age in a condominium, townhome or apartment, due to their expected energy levels and activity needs.

GPI also reserves the right not to place greyhounds deemed as high energy in a condominium, townhome or apartment.

EXCEPTIONS to these policies may be considered for a particular dog, but they must be pre-approved by the President (or his/her board of director’s designee) AND the applicable Regional VP.

We do not recommend picking a dog from its cute picture or color. Please choose dogs within your locality or within your driving distance. Being a volunteer based group, it is difficult for the organization to organize special transport of a dog from one end of our service area to another end. We make an exception for our Special Hounds.

Comments: Check is sweet, happy, friendly and loves being around people. She is still very active for her age and you would never guess that she is 10 years old. Check was a brood mom and would do best in a home without children. She occasionally likes to play with toys. She has done well with other greyhounds, but can be dominant. Although she has done well meeting small dogs, we do not recommend that she live with them full time. Check is just darling and will melt your heart.  Check was our April Dog of the MonthKennel UpdateCheck loves walks and often goes with our volunteers on walks on some local trails.  She is affectionate and happy – just a wonderful lady!

Comments: Ellie is a puppy. She is a greyhound mix and sister to Brutus. She is a happy, friendly little girl and will just make you smile. She loves all kinds of toys. Being a puppy she has lots of energy and will need a home that can guide her in the ways of the world. Ellie is still too young to be with adult dogs as they can easily injure a puppy without meaning to. Ellie did well in cat testing, but being a puppy she wants to play and chase, so all interactions with cats must be carefully monitored.

Comments: Erin recently arrived. She is delightful and happy.  Erin has a badly broken leg that will need surgery. She will see the ortho specialist/surgeon soon. In the meantime, you can help with her medical expenses by sponsoring her. Kennel Update:  Erin had surgery on her leg on July 30th.  The surgery went extremely well and she is healing fine.  She is currently going for weekly cast/bandage changes and her leg will be x-rayed on August 29th to see how she is doing.  Kennel Update:  Erin’s leg is healing well.  Her splint will be removed in the next week, and if everything is still looking good she will move to a padded wrap (no splint).  We will be working on building up some strength in that leg.  And towards the end of October she will have a plate removed from her leg and assuming she is still doing well, then she will be available for adoption.  Erin is such a special lady.  She handles all her care with grace and ease and is a delight.  MEDICAL HOLD

Comments: Jasmine is an absolute sweetie. What is not to love about this girl! She is affectionate and loving and so grateful for anything you give her. Jasmine is a greyhound mix from S. Korea. We think her to be about 3 years old. Jasmine was found lying on the street in Korea. She thankfully was taken to a vet and received much needed medical care. It appears that she has had some injuries to her rear in the past. Jasmine gets around just fine and is full of life and playful. She is on an anti-inflammatory to see if that helps her and we are still working on putting a little weight on her. She is just too darn cute and that face will just melt your heart. Jasmine would do best in a home without a lot of stairs. She did well in our cat testing, but has not lived with a cat. She did live in a foster home in Korea with a corgi and is fine with the small dogs as long as they don't get in her face. Jasmine can be food protective at times (who can blame her after living on the streets), so she should not go to a home with young children and she should be fed separately from any other dogs in her home.

Kid Friendly: See comments
Location: Foster home
Larger photos:  Yes, click the links in Kiera's comment area
Comments: Kiera is quiet, sweet and well behaved.  She loves her meals and her favorite Mary Greenleaf bed.  Kiera has been in a home before and was returned to us through no fault of hers.  Kiera was an only dog in her previous home, but she may need the company of another dog.  She gets along well with the other greys in her foster home.  Kiera is very timid with children and has nipped a young child, so we do not recommend her with children.  Kiera tested as very trainable in our cat testing, but has never lived with a cat. Foster home update:  Kiera is a wonderful, sweet and funny girl who has a very dainty way of walking.  She has excellent house manners, enjoys car rides, and going for walks.  She has a good appetite, but is not very food motivated. She will make an excellent addition to a household without young children.

Comments: Sparky is a fun, happy girl.  She loves to play with the toys.  She can be a little independent at first, but once she is comfortable with you she loves to play with the toys and share the joy of life with you.  Sparky came to us from Ireland.  She was a brood mom and is now enjoying retirement.  Sparky does very well with other dogs out on walks or on leash.  At first she was not doing well with other dogs at turnout, but we have now been able to pair her up with another dog and she is doing well.  If she is going to live with another dog, we think she just needs to meet them to see if they are compatible.  Sparky needs a home without cats and we do not recommend her with young children.

Comments: Tarnie is Miss Personality. She is outgoing, happy and friendly. Tarnie broke her leg at the beginning of October, but it has healed and she is doing well. She is an active, fun, delightful girl, but she can be possessive of her toys (we are working with her on this), so we do not recommend her with young children. Tarnie will need a home without cats and is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome.  Kennel Update:  Tarnie was diagnosed with immune mediated polyarthritis.  She is in the final stages of treatment and is doing very well.  She is back to her bouncy, playful, outgoing self.  We are continuing to monitor her and working with our vet to determine if additional long term care is needed.  MEDICAL HOLD

Comments: Venti is a quiet, friendly girl once she knows you. She is playful and too darn cute with the toys. She is learning to be affectionate and is quite the leaner once she knows you. Venti has the most beautiful eyes that just melt your soul. While Venti is not for the first time dog owner, she is oh so darling and whoever adopts this wonderful girl will be rewarded ten fold. Venti did not come from the US racing circuit, but is definitely a greyhound. We are not sure how she will do with other dogs and will be testing her with various dogs over the coming weeks. Venti will need a home without small dogs, cats and children.  Kennel Update: Venti absolutely loves the toys and will chase a ball and bring it back to you.  She is a fun, upbeat girl.  She would prefer to be the only apple of your eye.  Venti is affectionate and loving once she is comfortable with you.  She will need a dog savvy home and will make an absolutely wonderful companion.  Kennel Update:  Venti is very playful – loves to play ball.  She loves all toys. Venti is very affectionate but doesn't like to be smothered.  Venti is sweet, beautiful and stunning.  She can be anxious in new circumstances, so she needs a calm, clear leader to guide her and build up her trust.  She would do best in a calm household.  Venti is doing beautifully on our weekly Brightwater walks – she is learning to relax and enjoy the walks now and walks very well on leash.  She rides well in the car.  Venti was our July Dog of the Month

Comments: Wanda is a shy nervous girl. She will need a home with another happy-go-lucky, more confident greyhound as the companionship of other greyhounds makes her feel more comfortable. She does particularly well with the more playful, easy-going greyhounds. Wanda did well in cat testing, but with her being so shy, it is hard to say how she would be once she settles in and is more comfortable. Once comfortable she is quite playful. Wanda will need a home without children. Children frighten her and she is easily startled by them. Kennel Update: With people she knows well, Wanda is now coming up to them and will accept some loving. She does really well with the more playful, easy-going dogs and will run and play with them.

Comments: Wendy is delightful and all puppy!! Wendy and Louie (since adopted) recently arrived from S. Korea where they were found at a shelter. Wendy and Louie both had parvo, but are now fully recovered and living life to the fullest. Wendy will need an active home and one that will have the time and patience to work with a young puppy. Wendy is still a puppy and we are only just starting to introduce her to dogs other than Louie.  She did well meeting a Jack Russell Terrier and did well with meeting a cat as well, but because she is a puppy she will need monitored interaction with other dogs and/or cats.
