If you are interested in adopting one of the available greyhounds shown here, please contact one of our representatives listed above or on our Contact Us page to help you with the adoption process. For a general adoption guide, please check our Adoption Guide and for adoption requirements and general information about greyhounds, please check our FAQs

No description is provided for greyhounds who have just recently arrived at our kennel. In all other cases, where a description is given regarding behavior, and the results of cat, small dog and kid testing, the information provided is merely for guidance. Each dog may adapt differently in a different home environment, with other animals or children whose behavior is different. Please work closely with our adoption representative to help you pick the right dog for your home.

Cat Friendly Dogs - There are many people with cats looking to adopt greyhounds. If you do not have cats, we ask that you only consider adopting a dog that is not cat friendly. These dogs need homes just as much as the cat friendly dogs and we ask your help in reserving the cat friendly dogs for those homes that truly need them.

Apartments, Condominiums, TownHomes - GPI reserves the right not to place a greyhound under 3 years of age in a condominium, townhome or apartment, due to their expected energy levels and activity needs.

GPI also reserves the right not to place greyhounds deemed as high energy in a condominium, townhome or apartment.

EXCEPTIONS to these policies may be considered for a particular dog, but they must be pre-approved by the President (or his/her board of director’s designee) AND the applicable Regional VP.

We do not recommend picking a dog from its cute picture or color. Please choose dogs within your locality or within your driving distance. Being a volunteer based group, it is difficult for the organization to organize special transport of a dog from one end of our service area to another end. We make an exception for our Special Hounds.

Comments: Check is sweet, happy, friendly and loves being around people. She is still very active for her age and you would never guess that she is 10 years old. Check was a brood mom and would do best in a home without children. She occasionally likes to play with toys. She has done well with other greyhounds, but can be dominant. Although she has done well meeting small dogs, we do not recommend that she live with them full time. Check is just darling and will melt your heart.  Check was our April Dog of the MonthKennel UpdateCheck loves walks and often goes with our volunteers on walks on some local trails.  She is affectionate and happy – just a wonderful lady!

Age: 9

Cat friendly: Very trainable
Dog Friendly: Unknown with other than greyhounds
Kid Friendly: See comments
Location: Foster home
Larger photos:  Yes, click the links in Kiera's comment area
Comments: Kiera is quiet, sweet and well behaved.  She loves her meals and her favorite Mary Greenleaf bed.  Kiera has been in a home before and was returned to us through no fault of hers.  Kiera was an only dog in her previous home, but she may need the company of another dog.  She gets along well with the other greys in her foster home.  Kiera is very timid with children and has nipped a young child, so we do not recommend her with children.  Kiera tested as very trainable in our cat testing, but has never lived with a cat. Foster home update:  Kiera is a wonderful, sweet and funny girl who has a very dainty way of walking.  She has excellent house manners, enjoys car rides, and going for walks.  She has a good appetite, but is not very food motivated. She will make an excellent addition to a household without young children.

Comments: Lady has become a kennel favorite.  She is a brood mom and is now, well deservedly, retired and enjoying life. Lady is very playful and loves the stuffed toys. She is friendly, easy-going, playful and delightful. Lady will truly melt your heart - just a wonderful, wonderful lady! Lady will need a home without kitties. Lady and Zora are turned out together and do very well together It turns out that Lady and Zora are sisters! No wonder they look so much alike!;Foster home update: I have the distinct pleasure of fostering these two (long-lost and recently reunited) sisters. Zora had been in a home before but for Lady it is a new adventure. They had a ball running amok in my yard and they are really a team. The doggy door was conquered without any help from me ;-)) They blend into my pack seamlessly and have adapted to home life beautifully. They ride well in the car (I think Lady would like to try driving) and are great on a walk. They are a pair and need to stay together. What sweet girls!  (In the second photo, Lady is on the right.) There are many more photos of "The Sister Act" on their past Dogs of the Month feature!!

She is on the more active side, so will need a more active home and is not recommended for an apartment/condo/townhome. Leanne will need a home without cats, small dogs or young children. Comments: Pride is a beautiful girl, but on the shy side. Once she knows you she is friendly and sweet. She will need a home with another more happy-go-lucky dog as a companion. Pride did well in her small dog testing, but has not lived with small dogs. Because of her shyness we do not recommend her with young children.  Foster home update:  Pride is a very sweet girl and is doing great in her foster home, though she is still shy and nervous. She is hesitant of her foster dad, and sometimes of her foster mom but they are working on that with some improvement. Surprisingly she learned the dog door right away and wasn't the least bit afraid of it. She gets along with all the other dogs very well in her foster home, both male and female.

Comments: Sunny was in a home and returned through no fault of hers. Sunny is beautiful. Sunny is very sweet, loveable and loves attention and to cuddle. She is good with toys and loves walks and car rides. Sunny does not like to share, so would do best in a home where she is the only apple of your eye or one other greyhound. Sunny does ok with other greyhounds, but not other dogs. She will need a home where someone is home a fair amount of time, although she has been left for 6 to 7 hours at a time. She will also need a home without cats or children. Won't you give this beautiful older lady her forever couch?

She is an active, fun, delightful girl, but she can be possessive of her toys (we are working with her on this), so we do not recommend her with young children. Comments: Venti is a quiet, friendly girl once she knows you. She is playful and too darn cute with the toys. She is learning to be affectionate and is quite the leaner once she knows you. Venti has the most beautiful eyes that just melt your soul. While Venti is not for the first time dog owner, she is oh so darling and whoever adopts this wonderful girl will be rewarded ten fold. Venti did not come from the US racing circuit, but is definitely a greyhound. We are not sure how she will do with other dogs and will be testing her with various dogs over the coming weeks. Venti will need a home without small dogs, cats and children.  Kennel Update: Venti absolutely loves the toys and will chase a ball and bring it back to you.  She is a fun, upbeat girl.  She would prefer to be the only apple of your eye.  Venti is affectionate and loving once she is comfortable with you.  She will need a dog savvy home and will make an absolutely wonderful companion.  Kennel Update:  Venti is very playful – loves to play ball.  She loves all toys. Venti is very affectionate but doesn't like to be smothered.  Venti is sweet, beautiful and stunning.  She can be anxious in new circumstances, so she needs a calm, clear leader to guide her and build up her trust.  She would do best in a calm household.  Venti is doing beautifully on our weekly Brightwater walks – she is learning to relax and enjoy the walks now and walks very well on leash.  She rides well in the car.  Venti is our July Dog of the Month

Wanda

Wanda
Tag No: 5594
Registered Name: NB’s Wild Win
Age: 2
Color: Black
Cat Friendly: Unknown, see comments
Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, ok with small dogs
Kid Friendly: No
Location: Woodinville, WA  (Kennel)
Larger photo:  Yes, click the links in Wanda's comment area
Comments: Wanda is a shy nervous girl. She will need a home with another happy-go-lucky, more confident greyhound as the companionship of other greyhounds makes her feel more comfortable. She does particularly well with the more playful, easy-going greyhounds. Wanda did well in cat testing, but with her being so shy, it is hard to say how she would be once she settles in and is more comfortable. Once comfortable she is quite playful. Wanda will need a home without children. Children frighten her and she is easily startled by them. Kennel Update: With people she knows well, Wanda is now coming up to them and will accept some loving. She does really well with the more playful, easy-going dogs and will run and play with them.

Comments: Wendy and Louie are absolutely delightful and all puppy!! We think they are siblings, but do not know for sure. Wendy and Louie recently arrived from S. Korea where they were found at a shelter. Wendy and Louie both had parvo, but are now fully recovered and living life to the fullest. Wendy and Louie will need active homes and ones that have the time and patience to work with a young puppy. Wendy and Louie are very bonded.  Wendy is still a puppy and we are only just starting to introduce her to dogs other than Louie.  She did well meeting a Jack Russell Terrier and did well with meeting a cat as well, but because she is a puppy she will need monitored interaction with other dogs and/or cats.  How about sponsoring Wendy to help with her expenses?

Comments: Zora will just melt your heart. She is an absolute sweetheart. Those eyes and that face are just too adorable for words. Zora has lived in a home for the last approx. 7 years and was turned in to us through no fault of hers. Zora is gentle and happy. She absolutely loves to play with tennis balls and she loves walks. She has lived with another greyhound, but he passed away two years ago. Since then she has been an only dog, but has not often been left alone. She does fine with other dogs out on walks, but has never lived with a small dog. She does well at turnout with the other dogs and she could be Lady's twin - it is hard to tell them apart. It turns out that Lady and Zora are sisters! No wonder they look so much alike! They are turned out together and do very well together. Zora needs a home without cats and is used to a house with a yard. Zora has lived with young children and did fine with them, although she was not allowed to interact with them too often. Won't you give this precious darling girl a forever home? Foster home update: I have the distinct pleasure of fostering these two (long-lost and recently reunited) sisters.
