No description is provided for greyhounds who have just recently arrived at our kennel. In
all other cases, where a description is given regarding behavior, and the results of cat,
small dog and kid testing, the information provided is merely for guidance. Each dog may
adapt differently in a different home environment, with other animals or children whose
behavior is different. Please work closely with our adoption representative to help you
pick the right dog for your home. Cat Friendly Dogs - There are many people with cats looking to
adopt greyhounds. If you do not have cats, we ask that you only consider adopting a
dog that is not cat friendly. These dogs need homes just as much as the cat friendly
dogs and we ask your help in reserving the cat friendly dogs for those homes that truly
need them.
Apartments, Condominiums,
TownHomes - GPI reserves the right not to place a greyhound under 3 years of age in a
condominium, townhome or apartment, due to their expected energy levels and activity
needs.
GPI also reserves the right not to place greyhounds deemed as high
energy in a condominium, townhome or apartment.
EXCEPTIONS to these policies may be considered for a particular
dog, but they must be pre-approved by the President (or his/her board of director’s
designee) AND the applicable Regional VP.
We do not recommend picking a dog from its cute
picture or color. Please choose dogs within your locality or within your driving distance.
Being a volunteer based group, it is difficult for the organization to organize special
transport of a dog from one end of our service area to another end. We make an exception
for our Special Hounds.

Comments: What a fun
girl! Isis is a petite, upbeat girl.
She is friendly with most people and
loves older women. Isis is on the
higher energy side so will need an active home. She is playful and
loves to play with a ball or the squeaky toys. She is affectionate and
loves to go for car rides. She loves walks and walks well on leash.
Even though she is petite, she can be quite strong. This girl will
make you smile! Isis needs a home without cats and would do best in a
home without children of any age. She does well with some other breed
dogs and not others, so she’ll just need to meet any other potential
non-greyhound house mates to see how they do together. She does have
some separation anxiety so would do best in a home with a canine
companion. Isis has been in a home before and knows how to do stairs
and knows several commands.

Comments: BB and Jane are sisters.
Jane is
a petite, beautiful black girl. Jane is very shy and will need a calm, patient,
experienced home. Jane would do best in a home with another more confident dog to show her
the ropes. Once Jane knows you she will sneak up for some loving. Some of our volunteers
are starting to take Jane out into the world and she has done well so far. Jane is just
precious and is slowly gaining confidence. Jane learns quickly. She did well in a second round of cat testing, but has not lived in a
home with a cat. We do not recommend Jane for a home with children. Jane loves the kiddie pool and is such fun to watch running in and out of it.
Kennel Update: Our volunteers regularly take BB and
Jane out into the world and they are doing fabulously. Jane is doing
better with men, but still timid with them. Jane has met ducks, other
dogs, and lots of people on her outings and is gaining confidence.
She will readily come for affection now and doesn't like to be left
out.

is very shy and has a lot to learn about the ways of the world. She
will need a home with another more confident, easy-going dog. With
some patience, guidance and time Star will be an absolutely wonderful
dog. The kennel she came from told us that she is a smiler! We do
not recommend Star with children due to her shyness. Star is not for
an apartment/condo/townhome and not for the first time dog owner.
While she tested friendly with cats, she has not lived with a cat.
