FENCED PARKS/FIELDS
(Please make sure that your greyhound does not run loose with other dogs. Check the enclosure to make sure the fence is not in disrepair in any sections, and check the gate to make sure it is shut properly. Do not let your greyhound run when the weather is too hot. Heat exhaustion can be fatal.)

BELLINGHAM, WA	Lake Padden Park 4882 Samish Way Bellingham, WA 98226	The training area marked behind the athletic field restroom facilities in southeastern part of the park in the area bounded by four (4) white posts marked "Dog Exercise Area"; bridle trails in the wooded portion of the Park west of Padden Creek Dam and Ruby Creek entrance into the Lake; and the trails in the south end of Lake Padden between the golf course power lines and trailhead off Samish Way. Dogs are required to be on a leash when on the around-the-lake trail. A dog water exercise area near the ballfield area is signed for dog training/exercise. Dogs are restricted to entering Lake Padden only at this area.
BELLEVUE, WA	Robinswood Park Off of 148th Ave. (the south end, intersecting with 124th and 122nd. SE.), near Bellevue Community College	Two fenced fields. The larger corral has an improved fence but since other breeds run there, it is not an ideal place for greyhounds to run. The smaller field can be rented for exclusive greyhound use.

Large grassy fields, woodland trails and water to play in. No more worrying about unfamiliar dogs or people interfering with your fun at the park. The cost is $8 per hour PER FAMILY (not per dog like their website states)
COVINGTON, WA	Cedar Heights Jr. High School 19640 SE 272nd St.	Fenced track (has several gates that have to be checked, and watch out for a couple of holes for pole-vaulting) Contact Carol Forehand for more info.
EVERETT, WA	Lowell Park 46th St. and S. 3rd Ave.	It is a smaller park but secure and with enough room for them to run. It can be pretty muddy in the winter. The best times to go are early in the morning or during the day when most people are at work. We avoid noon, late afternoon, and weekends due to the number of dogs that show up at that time. LAKEWOOD, WA	Fort Steilacoom 9601 Steilacoom Blvd Lakewood, WA	There is a designated off leash dog park at Fort Steilacoom that is really nice. There are two sections, one is about an acre and the other is 20 acres. Both sections are fully fenced and double gated. Water is available. They have a designated greyhound-only play date on Sunday mornings at 9AM. Info provided by Janet Keough.
NORTH SEATTLE, WA	Sand Point Magnuson Park 7400 Sand Point Way NE	It's fantasitc. It's huge and almost seems neverending. It's got multiple fenced in areas that all connect. You can romp with other dogs, take a long walk along the fenced path that leads to the beach or if you're a shy/small dog they have a whole area for that too. There are numerous spots to take a sip of water, doggie bags for poop and a fresh water beach if your hound is feeling adventurous to take a dip (our got curious and walked through some of it). The place was well maintained (but if you go after it rains it could be a bit muddy). Also the owners and dogs we've met are super nice and friendly. We even met a few other greyhounds! REDMOND, WA	NOT ACCEPTABLE Marymoor Park 6046 West Lake Sammamish Parkway NE	REASONS WHY MARYMOOR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR GREYHOUNDS Marymoor Park is not fully and securely fenced. There are also many, many breeds of dogs who run at Marymoor and some very busy roads nearby.
TACOMA, WA	Rogers Park 3300 East L Street	It is maintained by volunteers and by Metro Parks. It's a good size (perfect for running and fetching) but not as exciting as some of the bigger Seattle parks. It has two dog-proof gates and is totally fenced. It's never crowded tho (usually one or two dogs and owners there at a time) so it's perfect for shy/quiet dogs. There is a doggie water fountain, a bench for sitting and poop bags. I wouldn't, however, recommend the park after it has rained (at least for two days after). Cost for greyhounds: $3/dog, $5 for 2 dogs $8 for 3 or more from same family. Ann Marie has a wonderful, new, clean facility with 1/2" rubber floors so no sliding and easy on the joints. The inside is 3750 sq. ft. The outside fenced area is 2,000 sq. ft. Call or email Ann Marie the Friday before to ensure the group is meeting.
