Galadriel our faire` timid yet sometimes bold little princess. She came into our house 9 1/2 years ago only being 18 months old and never having officially raced. She was a very, very shy little girl preferring, at first, her crate to human companionship. But with time, patience, special canine love, and quiet gentle leadership from her brother Smeagol, she embraced all of us and entered into our pack.
We soon found our little princess, Galadriel to be truly unique. She could sit with the greatest of ease, a task most greyts find rather difficult. She loved treats and would quickly sit, cock her head ever so slightly with one ear up to say, "Yes please!" She loved the water and would romp in the waves at the coast, something Smeagol thought was just awful. She also found her voice one day, barking at her two legged brother to get up, and after, that became his morning wake up call. One other uniqueness was her love of horses. We discovered this quite by accident at the Duvall parade. The GPI group of greyhounds was being followed by some horses and Galadriel kept wanting to go back and walk with them. Later she got her own herd and had a special greyhound/horse sound she made to her big, thoroughbred, brother, Klemott. She seemed to have a special attachment to him maybe it was because they were both X-racers.
Galadriel you were and still are so special to us. Your love and quiet comfort grew and spread in our hearts and in our souls. All in all, you were our very own Galadriel, which means beautiful garden. Sam Wise Gamgee described the Lady Galadriel best to Captain Faramir:
...sometimes like a tree in flour, sometimes like a white daffadowndilly, small and slender like. Hard as di'monds, soft as moonlight. Warm as sunlight...and as merry as any lass I ever saw with daisies in her hair in spring time... (the Two Towers, J.R.R Tolkien)
Galadriel you were deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
