Dearly missed by Evan and Gwen Perkins and Family

It is with unimagineable sadness that I write to GPI to let you know that Ripley (San Tan Move On) went to the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by his family at home at 12:10pm Thursday, March 22nd, 2012 aged 13 years, 2 months and 6 days.

He had gotten so weak he could no longer walk by himself to go potty outside, and he had to be carried out by one of us and held up to use the bathroom. I couldn't bear to watch my beautiful boy suffer any longer, and I needed to give him his dignity so we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go to the rainbow bridge.

Ripley was an especially big boy, weighing 90 pounds and standing 31 inches at the shoulder. He was just the most beautiful, stunning boy and would literally stop traffic so people could stop to pet him or just look at him. Ripley was my shadow; always by my side on the couch or right behind me in the kitchen while I cooked.
He felt like an extension of me and everyone who knows us would always ask how he and Brando, our sweet little brindle girl, were doing.

Ripley appeared in a full page article the Richmond News, our local newspaper, in September of 2002, just one month after he came to his forever home with us here in Burkeville.

Many people locally would stop us and say "hey, aren't you the Greyhound people?" Usually this would lead to the fact that they also wanted to adopt a Greyhound or knew someone who did. We were featured in the Richmond News again on October 1, 2005 in another full page article as we had gotten Brando (aka Reddy aka Two Timin' Woman) and we felt like such a complete pack!

I am still crying as I write this, (and will continue to do so for a long time to come) but if you really love someone you have to know when to let them go. Goodbye my big Southern Gent, I will never forget you and all the absolutely amazing things you did for us in your life. I hope you are running free now without pain, knowing that we will see you again. We love you Moo Moo, now and forever.
